The Company that Brought Ipanema to the Philippines
 
ELRO Commercial and Indusrial Corporation (ECIC) was formed in 1983 and is part of a group of companies owned by the family of Francisco J. Elizalde. ECIC is primarily a company involved in sugar production mainly in the island of Negros; however, due to the volatile nature of the business being a commodity, the company decided to begin investing in other businesses specifically in the Retail sector through the importation of popular fashion and footwear brands.
 
In 2001, the Company formed its Consumer Products Group which is the vehicle for its foray ino the sector. Past relationships in retail have been the investment as a minority shareholder in Burger King Philippines, Inc., the operation of Retail Concept Stores like Puma, New Balance and Arena Swimwear. He Company is now currently the exclusive distributor in the Philippines for Grendha, Ipanema, Rider, Dupe brands and soon to be introduced Ed Hardy footwear.
 
The company continues to seek foreign brands in the Consumer Goods sector for introduction into the Philippine retail and wholesale market. Other affiliated companies are ELRO Trading Corporation (involved in food distribution and fast food), ELRO Land Corporaion (real estate development) and Bais Multi Farms (agribusiness).
